Diamond Is Crystalline Carbon
A diamond is a crystalline form of carbon. Its optical properties, hardness and rarity have made it central to fine jewellery, especially engagement rings.
Two diamonds of the same weight can look very different because quality is affected by cut, colour, clarity, proportions and shape.
Natural and Laboratory-Grown Diamonds
Natural diamonds formed through geological processes deep within the Earth. Laboratory-grown diamonds are produced using controlled technological processes such as HPHT or CVD. They have essentially the same crystal structure and very similar chemical, physical and optical properties, but their origin and market pricing are different.
The 4Cs
The 4Cs are Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat Weight.
The 4Cs provide a structured way to describe diamond quality, but they are not a substitute for looking at the actual stone. Two diamonds with similar report grades can still differ in appearance.
Certification and Identification
