Zakat calculator from Gold Factory, work out the zakat due on your gold

This calculator is intended for Muslims assessing Zakat al-Mal. It provides an estimate based on the information and religious method selected by you.

Important: Zakat rules can differ between recognised Islamic schools of jurisprudence, particularly for the Nisab basis and personal-use gold or silver jewellery. Gold Factory does not choose a religious school for you. Select the method you follow, and seek guidance from a qualified scholar or imam if you are unsure.

1. Your Zakat method

Hanafi guidance includes personal-use gold/silver jewellery; Shafi’i, Maliki and Hanbali guidance can exempt permissible personal-use jewellery. If you are unsure, seek guidance from a qualified scholar or imam.

2. Gold

3. Silver

Fineness is out of 1000 (sterling silver = 925). Only the silver content is valued. Diamonds, gemstones and platinum held as personal jewellery are not automatically included; items held for trade or resale belong with business/trade assets below.

4. Other zakatable assets

5. Qualifying liabilities

Do not automatically deduct the full outstanding balance of a long-term mortgage or loan. The deductible amount can depend on the religious guidance you follow and your circumstances.

Metal values use current market prices, updated 17 Sep 2026, 13:46. This calculator is intended for Muslims assessing Zakat al-Mal. It provides an estimate, not a fatwa, and does not replace individual religious advice. Recognised schools of jurisprudence differ on some issues; for complex property, pensions, investments, debts or uncertain jewellery treatment, seek qualified religious guidance.

Choosing your Zakat method

Silver Nisab uses the current market value of 612.36g of silver. This is commonly used in the Hanafi school.

Gold Nisab uses the current market value of 87.48g of gold. This is commonly used by the other major Sunni schools.

Personal-use gold/silver jewellery: choose Include where your religious guidance requires personal-use gold and silver jewellery to be included, or Exclude where your guidance exempts permissible personal-use jewellery.

Hawl: the calculator asks whether the applicable lunar-year (Hawl) condition has been met. If you are unsure, the result advises you to seek qualified religious guidance rather than stating a definitive amount due.

Gold, silver and personal jewellery

Enter the weight of gold you own and select its purity: 24ct, 22ct, 21ct, 18ct, 14ct or 9ct, in grams. The calculator values the gold using the current market price and the relevant gold content.

Silver: enter the silver weight and its fineness/purity so the calculator values only the silver content using the current silver market price.

Personal jewellery note: gold and silver jewellery may be treated differently depending on the school of jurisprudence followed. Diamonds, gemstones and platinum held as personal jewellery are not automatically included merely because they are jewellery; items held for trade or resale should instead be considered with business/trade assets.

Other zakatable assets

Personal-use assets such as your main home, ordinary household belongings and a personal-use car are generally not entered merely because you own them. Property, investment and pension rules can be more complex, so seek qualified guidance where necessary.

Qualifying liabilities

Enter qualifying debts or outgoings that may properly be deducted under the method you follow, such as amounts currently due or due in the short term. Do not automatically deduct the full outstanding balance of a long-term mortgage or loan. The amount that may be deducted can depend on the applicable religious guidance and your circumstances.

About this calculator

Zakat is an Islamic obligation for eligible Muslims. This tool is designed to help with calculation, not to issue a fatwa or replace individual religious advice. Different circumstances can change what is zakatable and which deductions are permitted.
