How To Identify a Gold Hallmark
A British hallmark has three compulsory parts: the sponsor or maker mark, the fineness number such as 375 or 916, and the assay office mark. A date letter may also be present but is optional.
Look inside a ring shank, on the clasp or tag of a chain, on the back of a pendant, or on the post of an earring. Marks are small, so a loupe or a phone camera at full zoom helps.
If you cannot find one, that does not mean the piece is not gold. Bring it in and we will test it.
